Using cognitive thinking for better size-up and understanding on the fireground
-Lt. N Schneider - FDNY
This course will teach the student how to recognize "tells" on the fireground and how to make faster and better decisions based on what they see, hear, smell and know. These skills are 100% applicable to any position, any rank, and any sized fire department.
Lt. N Schneider (FDNY) has 23 years in the fire service. His assignments in the FDNY have been to 34 Truck in Washington Heights and 50 Truck in the Bronx. He has been deeply involved with training at "The Rock" and is a member of the Remote Tactical Training Unit (RTTU) at the FDNY Bureau of Training. He also serves as an instructor with the FDNY Emergency Response Procedures unit. He served as the lead on the "FDNY Lithium Ion Batteries in the Maritime Environment" project that was presented to the FDNY Staff Chiefs meeting. He holds certifications in Fire Instructor I and II as well as numerous other FDNY certificates from training schools. He has presented at the FDIC as an instructor. Prior to his 18 years with the FDNY, he served proudly on the Providence Fire Dept.
Along with his love for the fire service he has worked in the construction industry in various capacities since he was 15. This knowledge of construction and practical use of tools and equipment has greatiy served hinl in his job as a member of the fire service.
